Child and Senior Services Franchisees May Be Among the Happiest People

The happiest people are those who are solving tough problems and “making a difference” in people’s lives, according to Harvard professor Rosabeth Moss Kanter.

Although every franchise helps others whether it be by feeding them, fixing their cars, or making them healthier, there are two industry sectors that have a significant impact on people’s lives – child care and senior services. It’s not surprising then that franchisees within these sectors tend to feel especially fulfilled. 87% of senior services franchisees and 90% of child services franchisees say they enjoy operating their business according to Franchise Business Review's franchisee satisfaction research.

Child Services

“I love the business. I love that we are enhancing the development of children and helping them develop a love for sports and fitness that will hopefully continue into adulthood. I love to hear that a child is excited to go to school so they can be part of the team that day. I love hearing from a parent how a child starting eating broccoli because their coach encouraged it. I love how we feel like celebrities when we go into the schools because the children are so excited to see us. I love how rewarding it is and how the giant smiles on the children’s faces prove it,” says Sonja Brummer who owns several Amazing Athletes franchise locations in San Diego County, CA

If absolutely “loving” what you do isn’t enough to get you excited about child services as a business, consider that of the 50.1 million students attending public elementary and secondary schools, 35.2 million will be in prekindergarten through grade eight and 14.9 million will be in grades nine through 12. Keep in mind there are also millions of students attending private schools. Research supporting the importance of the first five years of play in children’s long-term development, schools cutting physical education, art and music programs and extracurricular funding, and even the Obama administration’s focus on child obesity as an epidemic in our country are also driving the sector’s growth.

If you are interested in exploring child services franchises, a smart place to begin is with those whose franchisees say great things about them. Brands which are highly regarded by their franchisees include: Huntington Learning Center, JumpBunch, The Goddard School, Amazing Athletes, Mathnasium Learning Centers and APEX Fun Run.

Senior Services

When asked what he likes most about owning his franchise, Brightstar Care franchisee, Matthew Hayes says, “I enjoy working with our families and hearing the stories of their loved ones. There are some amazing people out there that I would not otherwise know if it were not for this experience.”

In addition to the enjoyment senior care franchisees receive from running their business, senior care as an industry is in demand. 10,000 people turn 65 everyday. By 2030, 70 million Americans will be over the age of 65. With life expectancy getting longer and longer, individuals reaching age 65 have another 20 years on average to live.

There are many senior care franchises to choose from and not all are created equal. The smartest place to start your research is with brands that are rated highly by those who know best – the franchisees who own them. They include HomeWatch Caregivers, Amada Senior Care, 101 Mobility and BrightStar Care.
